Sponsor an AIDS Orphan Today! “Over Medicalized.” That’s what they are calling the response to the current AIDS pandemic. At the 19th International AIDS Conference, it was reported that we had an “unintended catastrophe.” If you have read my responses to the HIV/AIDS crisis, you have certainly heard of my elation at the use of Anti-retrovirals in the treatment of HIV in order to prevent the virus from turning into AIDS. One of the most successful parts of this medical treatment is a program called PMTCT (Prevent-Mother-To-Child-Transmission). This program has been so successful that over 95% of the babies born to mothers with HIV/AIDS have not contracted the virus. This has been one of the most impressive breakthroughs in the… Read more »
It’s not every day that you get to ride a camel. And it certainly isn’t every day that you get to ride a camel in Kenya with one of your best friends. But one day Ken Welke and I rode a camel together. I will never forget that trip. But it wasn’t camels that changed Ken’s life. It was children. And he needs some financial resources to make this happen. When he retired from teaching in the public schools, Emmanuel lost his insurance. We need Emmanuel! We believe that his surgery can be successful…. Read more »
Check out our 2012 Annual Report to see highlights from last year! Let me tell you about how CRF helped get stuck people ‘unstuck’ this year. People in the Horn of Africa were stuck. It had not rained in five years. So CRF developed the greatest water ministry in our history. We brought in food and water to the most devastated places like Dadaab andTurkana. We drilled wells. We started farms. We built schools. We planted churches. It may seem like a drop in the desert, but CRF saved thousands of people who would have died without the water that you gave through CRF.
