Matthew Blake makes great salsa at Matchstick Salsa. His “Find Your Perfect Match” campaign not only encourages consumers to choose the heat intensity that best suits them, but also reminds buyers that each jar purchased is matched with a donated meal for a Kenyan CRF orphan. The children of Josh and Caresse Wood are budding artists. They put on an art show for the people of Amarillo recently at our CRF headquarters. Orphans from our new school in Metkei, Kenya are being supported with their proceeds. Dyron Howell of Eli Lilly and Snack Pak 4Kids is on his way to Eldoret, Kenya for business. But he is going to be traveling with a bunch of nearly indestructible soccer balls to… Read more »

As we have communicated, CRF is moving in the direction of obtaining Place of Joy in Cap Haitien, Haiti. It will be the biggest facility that we have. Currently, it is a sad place where children have been abandoned with no food and no supervision. We are trying to change all that. But Place of Joy is much more than a place with tremendous potential—it is full of children with tremendous potential. Find out how you can help us bring joy back to Place of Joy! This is Jeffery.  He is a 12 year old street kid who one day was riding his bicycle and bumped into a car.  The driver got out of the vehicle and slammed Jeffery on… Read more »

How Close is Your Water?

I’m never been more than a few minutes from clean water where I live in Amarillo. Usually I’m only a few seconds from clean water that is free for me to drink. And yet I hear people complain about water all the time. They think that the free water doesn’t taste good enough. So they go and buy bottled water that probably cost more per gallon than their gasoline. But in Labelmere, Haiti—there is no clean water close, and there is none to buy even though you couldn’t afford it if there was. Dorvil Djounio, one of our CRF partners in Pignon, recently went to Labelmere and took some of our short-term mission group from Mississippi with him. It’s over a… Read more »

God has been preparing Kevin Wasner for all of his life to be the new Executive Director of Christian Relief Fund. My first knowledge of Kevin came when Rick Atchley told me of one of the members of the Hills Church who had written— “Ever since Milton Jones’ last visit to The Hills, I believe I’ve been prompted to get involved with CRF or a ministry like it. The feeling was stirred again when I read a recent CRF newsletter story chronicling Milton’s recent trip to Liberia. I could see, hear and even smell the scenes he was describing, as my wife and I used to live in neighboring Sierra Leone.” Of course, it was Kevin. Rick’s analysis of him… Read more »

Remember the Poor

Posted by & filed under Africa, Clean Water.

Remember the Poor. That’s what the ministry is called right outside of Lodwar, Turkana in Kenya. We drilled for water there and helped save the lives of children in this famine area. But sometimes wells break. If you help us to drill a well, we wanted you to know that we not only drill wells, but we also help maintain them. We just fixed the well here, and water is flowing again. Don’t you love this picture? The street boys pictured are of a group of children who have been rescued and rehabilitated from their glue sniffing and other addictions. These former criminals are changing their behavior and learning to love and trust the Lord. You can see by the… Read more »
