God of the Hills and Valleys

One of the things we often hear from sponsors is that they love how CRF allows them to meet their sponsored children in person! Every year hundreds of CRF sponsors join us on mission trips where they have the opportunity to visit their children and serve their communities for the glory of God. We wanted to share this story from sponsor Rachel Shoener of LCBC church in Pennsylvania about her recent experience visiting her family’s sponsored children in Honduras! —————— What an incredible trip! We saw some amazing mountain views, walked over hills and valleys to visit families, and shared a love that was beyond words – and an overwhelming love was shown to us. There was not a day… Read more »

Innovations in Pig Projects

Our field directors are some of the most inspiring people we know. If you’ve been reading our newsletters for a while, you surely know many of their names. These men and women work incredibly hard to bring help and hope to children in the name of Jesus! From purchasing school uniforms to arranging doctor visits to making sure children receive their letters from their sponsors, there are hundreds of details that directors manage every day. It’s a difficult job, but these men and women of God are filled with so much compassion and love for the least of these that they sacrifice continually to fulfill their mission. So you can imagine how amazing it is when we hear stories about… Read more »

$228

$228. That’s how much it cost. I was shocked. How can one bottle of medicine cost me that much? But I didn’t have an alternative. I had malaria. That was the only medicine available. What can you do? You pay it. But I thought of all my friends living in Kenya where I got malaria. Most of them couldn’t pay that much for malaria drugs. Maybe their pharmacies don’t charge U.S. prices, but they still often don’t have enough to cover the cost. So they do without. Some are ok. Unfortunately, some are not. More than 1,000 people die from malaria every day because they can’t access or pay for the medical care they need. And many others can’t afford… Read more »

It’s Bed Time!

I have slept most of my life on a waterbed. I guess I’m just an old hippie, but I like them. However, Barbie talked me into buying a new bed. It’s a traditional bed, and I hate to admit it—but it is so comfortable! Whether it is comfort, relaxation, sleep, or whatever—it’s like this bed has changed my life. It wasn’t that expensive, but what an investment it was. If you are bed shopping, contact me, and I’ll tell you about it. I love my bed, and I can’t imagine what it would be like not to have it. I don’t even want to go back to my waterbed. And I certainly can’t imagine not having a bed at all…. Read more »

Joan Jones School Update

Joan Jones was known for her hospitality, and now it has multiplied to Campamento, Honduras. The Joan Jones Memorial School has now opened there. Many of you gave to help build this school in her honor. The new facility is an elementary school that will house students from the first through sixth grade. Around 180 students will be able to attend this educational center. The government graciously gave us the land for the school because they needed a facility in a new community of over 300 homes. Members of the LCBC church in Pennsylvania sponsor most all of the children at the new school. The mayor was so happy with the situation that he gave CRF another building to create… Read more »
